METRIS Research
Research, Publish, Present
Gain hands-on research experience, develop critical thinking skills, and build a strong portfolio for university applications.
The METRIS Research Programme is a 36-hour guided programme that allows students to explore an academic topic of interest under the mentorship of experienced academics and researchers. Students learn how to conduct research, evaluate evidence and communicate ideas through academic writing and presentations.
What You Will Achieve
✓ Complete a research proposal
✓ Publish a research paper or review article
✓ Present and defend your work before an academic panel
✓ Receive a certificate signed by faculty members
Learn Beyond the Curriculum
School teaches you what to learn.
Research teaches you how to think.
Through guided inquiry and independent exploration, students learn how to ask meaningful questions, evaluate information critically and develop evidence-based conclusions. The programme encourages intellectual curiosity while building valuable academic and communication skills that extend beyond the classroom.
Stand Out in University Applications
Top universities increasingly look beyond grades. Research experience demonstrates intellectual curiosity, initiative, critical thinking and the ability to engage deeply with academic subjects.
Working alongside experienced academics, students gain exposure to authentic research practices while exploring fields they may wish to pursue in university
Showcase Your Academic Potential
At the end of the programme, students will:
- Publish a research paper online
- Deliver a technical presentation
- Defend their work before an academic panel
- Receive formal recognition of their achievement
These experiences help students build confidence, strengthen their portfolios and demonstrate academic readiness for competitive university programmes
