JC Biology

From single cell to large ecosystems, studying Biology has allowed us to unearth the genesis of life – how organisms function, interact and evolve – and how we can preserve life to address real-world issues such as health, climate change and conservation.

Building from the core principles of cell and biomolecules of life, genetics and inheritance, energy and equilibrium and the evolution of life, we enable students not only to discern the intricate interconnections of our ecosystem, but also apply these theories and principles in and out of examination halls.

Master underlying concepts

Master the underlying concepts and discover their purpose as we break down the underlying concepts and tough terminologies in the realm of cell and biomolecules of life, genetics and inheritance, energy and equilibrium and the evolution of life into smaller and bite-sized concepts and discover how you can use them, and use them right.

Connect theoretical ideas and practical applications

Master the intricate relationship of our ecosystem and how climate change affects biodiversity, ecosystems and species interaction to develop scientific strategies that mitigate infectious disease spread and reduce environmental impacts.

Learning Outcomes

Bridging Secondary-School and University Biology

Develop a solid understanding of core principles and laws applicable in a wide variety of complex systems through problem-based learning, thus bridging their fundamental biology. knowledge, skills and interest to manage the rigours of Biology at university level.

Apply on Real-World Situations

Apply core ideas and link concepts such as cell and biomolecules of life, genetics and inheritance, energy and equilibrium and the evolution of life across different topics using  analytical tools to explain phenomena and solve a wide variety of problems.

Explore Possibilities

Learn how infectious agents cause disease and the biological principles behind immune responses and vaccinations. Examine how human actions contribute to the spread of diseases and environmental issues.

About Lead Tutor

Mr Chase Chow Jia Jing

Having graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and 2nd Major in Food Science and Technology (1st Class Honours), Mr. Chase Chow continues his dedication towards advancing food science and technology working as a Research Assistant in the Drug Development industry in an internationally established pharmaceutical company for a couple of years.

Not wanting to rest on his laurels, he continues to craft his knowledge by thrusting himself into the academic world, taking on a PhD in Bioengineering in NTU.

Mr Chow started as a private tutor since graduating from junior college. Up against torrents of global climate and health concerns, he believes the only way to address them lies in honing the generations. Focusing on making biology fun and engaging, Mr Chow focuses to develop students' understanding in key concepts in Biology instead of purely memorising. He attunes his teaching styles to his students' learning needs, understanding that all students are unique and develop at their own pace, with different strengths. He prefers to adopt a flexible approach that prioritises students' pain points and develop students' strengths to enhance their understanding of Biology, thus enabling them to reach their full potential and gain mastery of Biology.
